The honest truth?
I built FYOP because I wasted 3 years of college.
Not academically—I did the coursework, the labs, the internships. But socially? I played it safe. Same friend group since freshman year. Same weekend plans. Same bubble.
It wasn't until senior year that I started saying yes to random events, showing up to things alone, and actually talking to people outside my circle. And I realized—damn, I could've been doing this the whole time. The connections I made in those last few months opened more doors than the previous three years combined.
The problem wasn't that events didn't exist. They did. They were just buried in GroupMe chaos, Instagram stories I'd miss, or word-of-mouth that never reached me because I wasn't in the "right" group chat.
If you're a student reading this: Don't wait until senior year to break out of your bubble. The best experiences are usually one RSVP away.
If you're not a student: Forward this to one. They'll thank you later. Or roast you. Either way, you made an impact. 🎓
